This is an image that I worked on as part of the Audubon Society Web Site project. It shows a posterized figure against a pastel red and green line field. The background shows as white on a 16-color (VGA) graphics card and as warm grey in 256 colors (SVGA) or better.

I have tried this linear approach to background "tiling" but have found it to be unstable when scrolling, necessitating annoying trips to the refresh button. It seems well suited to graphics, however. note that the file size, 7.8 K, is fairly small for an image almost 3.75 inches square.
