How BIG is big?

Unless you're trying to impress everybody with how experimental you are (not that there's anything wrong with that), this is about as big as you ought to go. You might even think that this picture is too big, since most browsers have to scroll a little bit to find out what's going on. Maybe it would have been better if I had put a bigger hook to the copy in the picture, like including the headline, but I bet you'll remember the way a 480 X 350 pixel picture looks like displayed at 72 pixels per inch.

There's also download time to consider. My cow picture is about 20 K of data. If you're using a 14.4 modem it took 12 to 18 seconds to download and display it. I hope it was worth the wait. It would have taken longer if had used a regular scanned halftone. Hmm, maybe I should have saved it as a JPEG.
