Camperdown Elm
Ulmus glabra camperdownii
In 1640, the "Earl of Camperdown", in Dundee Scotland, discovered a branch growing along the ground in his forest of Elm trees. He produced the first Camperdown Elm by grafting it to the trunk of a Scotch Elm, the only variety that the Camperdown will grow on. Every Camperdown Elm tree in the world is a part of that original tree. The Camperdown Elm cannot self-reproduce.
