For 2009, we are trying a different approach to our training. Rather than have it be serious and "labor intensive" all the time, we decided to use our weekend stuff to be more fun yet educational, ergo the one or two overnight type campouts. During the campouts, the focus of the training will be on compass work and night searches (at least that's the plan as of Jan 2009). This is subject to change, of course. The focus here is on making SAR fun. Plus these "campouts" are excellent opportunities to bring family members along. With this relaxed atmosphere on the weekends, it may mean that we place a stronger emphasis on our other training sessions. i.e. map & compass, survival, SAR techniques, etc. Hey, you give a little .... you get a little.
Furthermore, our weekend stuff is NOT weather dependent! Oh yes, we may cancel if the weather becomes extremely foul, but as our training motto states rather clearly: "If it's raining, we must be training!"
Also remember, with very few exceptions, our training is open to anyone & everyone. If you want to attend any of our training sessions and need directions, etc. contact us. Probably the simplest way is via email.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email us with your questions and/or input.
