One of President Villanova's new initiatives when he took office was a revitalization of the SDF. A flagship starship was envisioned as the core of the fighting force and it was decided that the FireBlossom Class would be revived. With twice the firepower of a Cohort-III, the FireBlossom-II is an extremely potent addition to the force. The decision was made to lay 30 hulls of the new class - they would form the lead ship for a quarter of the SBG's. These would be the 'Rapid Reaction Force', ready to deal with trouble within minutes notice.
