The Venture B is the primary exploratory starship of the SDF and a major contributor to scientific advancement throughout the Triumvirate nations by virtue of it's discoveries in the depths of space. It is also the ship most likely to be encountered by an alien species - thus it is outfitted for potentially unfriendly encounters. Care is also taken for friendly encounters and rescue missions. Many of the SDF's first contacts with an alien species have been a result of a distress signal in the depths of space.
The standout feature of the Venture B are it's twin parallel sensor arrays. Designed to provide both a faster sweep time and instant data checking as well as resolution second to none the sensor arrays and their sub-arrays consume more than half the ship cost in their construction. The Venture B is also the only SDF starship to be equipped with a hyperdrive along with the standard warp drive. While this does not allow it to survey along it's route it does allow a greater range of operation.
Venture B's are produced on Mars at a cost of 410,000,000,000 Di-Coins per unit not counting the cost of it's shuttles and fighters.
