Venture C-Class Heavy Explorer

The most noticable shift during the AFY2500 fleet replacement cycle is going to be the renewed emphasis on exploration and scientific advancement. To advance these goals the Venture B-Class is going to upgraded to the Venture C-Class Heavy Explorer. This upgrade will make the Venture C the most advanced exploration vessel known as well as one of the most common.

Foremost amoung the new features of the Venture C are it's upgraded and expanded sensor arrays. Both of the two main arrays have been enlarged and tied into the four smaller dedicated arrays by redundant data links and parallel II processing cores. These arrays have been augemented by a third medium array located on the bottom of the saucer section and all three are tied together for additional parallel resolution. On top of this the Venture C's are tied into the rest of the fleet by two full Athena communications systems.

Aside from the sensor system upgrades the Venture C is also getting more firepower. The number of torpedo tubes have been doubled to allow it to function as part of the re-organized Rapid Response Groups in a frontline combat role. The shape of the ship has also been refined, smoothing off some rough edges and making the entire ship more sleek.

Each Venture C will cost 472 billion di-coins with a production time of 5 years. The costs and production time include the support craft. A total of 80 Venture C's are to be produced and are expected to replace the Venture B by AFY2550. To enhance the Triumvirate's exploration capacity the Venture B will be sold to private corporations and charter groups, as well as to select allied nations. The Venture C is being produced in shipyards on Ares only.
