Production Notes
"John, Liz and I went out and just played 'make believe'.
At the end of the day we all just knew that we had something pretty
special", says Korgan. John Johnston, a longtime friend of
Korgan's and a bagpipe virtuoso turned comedian, was thrilled
to hit the streets of Portland with the rough but quirky script
and a small film crew. Korgan and the crew followed Johnny all
over the city as he interacted with real people and told the world
about his struggle as a natural-born rocker descending from a
long line of traditional Scottish bagpipe players. About the process,
Korgan explained," We just walked and talked and discovered
the character as we went, John was a real natural for this."
Film burned, everyone had a blast and at about 5 PM that evening
JOHNNY B. was in the can, where it stayed for about three months
until Korgan and editor, David Massachi, cut together an oddly
amusing and inspiring film.
