- - - - - COBY HYPER-CHESS - - - - - EXCITING NEW CHESS VARIANT!!

COBY HYPER-CHESS is played on a 12x12 board with each player having  4 logical new pieces and 3 types of Pawns (12 Pawns in all). It is designed to  be the best, most chess-like game possible for this board and is an excellent integration of ideas related to the expansion of Chess. Coby Hyper-Chess is a game I recommend as suitable for the evolution of master level Chess, but it is also very enjoyable and playable at every level. Available now.

COBY DECA-CHESS is played on a 10x10 board with each player having 2 logical new pieces and 2 additional Pawns (10 Pawns in all). It is designed to be the best, most chess-like game possible for this board and is intermediate between regular Chess and Coby Hyper-Chess. Coby Deca-Chess is very playable and exciting and is especially recommended for Bughouse! Available now.

BOOKS - Jon Coby has spent 15+ years developing Coby Hyper-Chess and Coby Deca-Chess and over 20 years studying and playing them. His book DECA-CHESS/AN INTRODUCTION (about 70 pages) and the follow-up pamphlet DECA-CHESS/UPDATE + HYPER-CHESS (22 pages) contain a complete history of the development of these two closely related games, his discoveries, and over 80 exciting, instructive, and challenging combinations and studies! Available now.

See write-up for Hyper-Chess and Deca-Chess in Variant Chess Magazine (issue 55, page9).

COBY 3D-CHESS is played "in" an 8x8x8 "block" with a beautiful array of pieces (this board is described in D. B. Pritchard's THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CHESS VARIANTS as "mentally indigestible for the players"). It was developed as part of my search for the "next" Chess and is simply the best, most chess-like 3D game yet. AND, due to its logic and construction, it is also quite playable. Not currently available.

COBY CHECKERS is played on a 10x10 board with each player having 3 additional pieces (Checkers). It is intended to be the best, most checkers-like game possible for this board and is a nice twist on a very grand game. The idea for this game grew from my work on Chess variants. I do not play Checkers very well, but I do enjoy the game and think that other players will enjoy Coby Checkers! Available now.

YITZI is a variant of Yahtzee played with 6 dice. I spent 15+ years developing this game and it is ready to go. Yitzi features a modest but logical increase in complexity and strategy as compared to Yahtzee. If this appeals to you then you will definitely enjoy Yitzi. Not currently available.

(01/07 - PEKER is a variant of Poker. This game is still in development but is intended to be a more elegant way of adding complexity to the game Texas Holdem than the way Omaha does) 05/08 - My research into PEKER is complete, and the result is PSOKER!! This game is ready to ROCK the Poker World! PSOKER will soon be released in the form of a book.
