2 x 4 welded wire is perfectly adequate for a bobcat. I have used it for all my bobcats, lynx, and servals with no problems. It doesn't rust, except where they pee on it, after a period of years. Then you just cut that piece out and replace it, or replace that whole section if you don't want it to be noticable. One thing I really like about it is that you can see through it well since the wire isn't really heavy. Chain link and the heavier panels feel like a wall between the cats and I. Also, make sure that whatever you use does not have spaces large enough for a bobcat to squeeze through, even up high. I have noticed that a lot of the people writing in with caging suggestions are not mentioning what type of cat the caging is built for, and that is the biggest consideration.
