Why Use Modules?
- Functional Abstraction
- helps simplify reasoning
- details of how to perform functions can be left for later
- first develop a list of parameters and the comments that describe the function
- each function is a cohesive unit
- Information Hiding
- hiding implementation details
- only the interface needs to be known
- comments and function prototype (declaration) give all of the information that is necessary to use the function
- Procedural Abstraction
- writing functions in relative isolation from each other
- knowing what is done, not how
- focus on one thing at a time
- isolating details so that one function does not interfere with another
- development can be done in a modular fashion
