Habitat: Mixed willow, alder and cascara wetland
Behavior: the bird was with a mixed feeding flock of chickadees, Warbling Vireos, and Yellow Warblers. There was also at least one Black-throated Gray Warbler, and Orange-crowned Warbler and two Common Yellowthroats.
Description:
Overall: Brightly marked, obviously different than common western species from the yellow throat and breast abruptly transitioning to white at the belly and the bright double wingbars.Similar Species:
Head: Crown greenish-gray, pale buffy-yellow supercillium, dark eyeline, greenish cheek and auriculars about the same tone as crown, nape paler than crown. Throat yellowish.
Back: Green
Wings: Blackish with two prominent wingbars, whitish edgings to secondaries and tertials, pale tips to the primaries. Generally contrasting bright and dark wings
Breast: orangy-buff with wide smudgy streaks forming a vague breastband and faint blurry streaks to flanks.
Belly and undertail coverts: bright white.
Tail: Dark with white corners
Yellow-rumped Warbler: lacked yellow rump, too green above, too yellow below.Previous experience: I have seen adult Blackpoll Warbler at Malheur and fall hatch-year in Clatsop Co., OR
Bay-breasted Warbler: white undertail covers, details of the back and face.
Pine Warbler: details of the face, overall greeness, brightness of the wings, amount of white in tail.I did not note the leg color.
