About: This page is devoted to our two Super Dollfies, Shoutaro and Lucien. Super Dollfies are one-of-a-kind ball-jointed dolls (BJD) made by a Japanese company, Volks. Our boys are SD-13s, which are larger and have a more mature appearance. They're quite large (60 cm, about 24" tall) and very poseable; their name is a contraction for "Super Doll Figures." There are three kinds of Super Dollfies available: Standard versions, which are usually available for sale in Volks stores; Limited versions, which are released at periodic Doll Parties (Dolpas); and FCS versions - the Full Choice System, which can be ordered at a Volks store with a deposit, then takes around a month to assemble and ship.

We were lucky enough to have commissioned a friend in Japan to purchase our dolls and send them to us. People who don't live on the Japanese mainland aren't able to have SDs shipped to them; the only way to obtain a Dollfie is through a shopping service, through an auction service off Yahoo!Japan, or very rarely off E-bay.

Personality: A shy young man, slow to warm up to others. He likes getting up early and drinking black coffee. Though he's a bit withdrawn, once you get to know him he's got quite a bit of Kansai attitude. He sticks up for his friends, stands his ground, and enjoys life from moment to moment. Shouta likes a clean living space and began renovating Lucien's apartment the moment he set foot in it.

Background: Born in Yokohama, Shoutaro emigrated to the United States to attend school with the help of a generous aunt. His family arranged for him to stay with young Mr. Shemyaza. He's very young but not particularly naive. Rumors have it that he has a twin sister.

Likes: Stuffed animals, pirates, RPGs, black coffee, kitties, and cuddling. Shounen anime like "Hikaru no Go." Comfortable clothing. He loves his mommy and, of course, Lucien.

Dislikes: Horsebackriding - he's afraid of being near horses and ponies. Being bald. A messy living space. He doesn't like having long hair, because he hates being called a girl.

Favorite food & drink: Okonomiyaki with tako and green onion. Peach soda.

Stats: SD-13 "Syo"-type, new body version, pure skin. The SD13 "Syo" type is available in Volks stores.

Faceup: Default "Syo" brows, eyes and lips painted and facial blushing by KnM.

Personality: Claiming to be royalty where he comes from, Lucien is proud, vain, and somewhat arrogant. He's weak against animals, and fiercely possessive of those things that he cares for. Though he professes not to care much for others, secretly he is very dependent on the presence and opinion of his loved ones. He likes to sleep in late. Though he doesn't seem obsessed with his appearance it's clear he takes great pride in and care with his looks; he's been known to change his clothes as many as five times a day. Cousin to Mikael at "Fallen from Briah."

Background: Little is known of Lucien Shemyaza's origins, because he always changes the subject when it comes up. It's almost certain that he is connected to royalty, having a natural imperious air and towering sense of entitlement that just can't be faked. He seems to be independently wealthy, though he won't reveal the source; plays guitar and owns a panther, and hops from occupation to occupation with the attitude of a dilettante. There are rumors that he may be sidhe royalty or some other form of fey, given his naming conventions -- cat Tannim, teddy Phouka -- as well as his overall appearance.

Likes: His cat Tannim, cigarettes, admiration, having well-groomed long hair, living with Minami Shoutaro. He likes beautiful surroundings and environments that are structured and harmonious.

Dislikes: The TV show "Family Guy," excessive displays of vulgarity. Being condescended to or coddled.

Favorite food & drink: Chocolate mousse cake, tanuki udon. Imported ale or Perrier sparkling water.

Stats: SD-13 FCS (Full Choice System) with F-16 head, black lashes, snow-white skin, D13B-H-01 (standard) hands, SD13B-FO-02 (tabi) feet, L-02 (long) legs.

Faceup: M-04 makeup - custom specified to look "playful and wicked." I described the kind of eyebrows, eye makeup, and lips that I wanted, and they did a fantastic job realizing my vision of Lucien.

Hair: W-11 (FCS-only) wig, color 350 (mixed wine). Sometimes wears Dollmore wind cut black wig. Sometimes wears the Volks W-27 (One curl super long) in 613, ivory.
