"Star Ocean 2" was quite an obsession for a few months there a while back, and we still enjoy it, even though we haven't played it for a while. ^_^ In what other game can you teach your angst-ridden, taciturn, gorgeous swordsman to cook shortcake and sushi? Or set your entire cast of characters to writing novels, which can either be published or "read" by other members of the party to increase the compatibility levels between them? ^_^ Not to mention bunny racing and cooking contests.... And as possible party members a foxy sorceress whose clothing bares more than it covers, a whip-wielding alien, a miniature mage with cat ears and an overgrown intellect who casts frighteningly evil spells, an unfortunate fighter who becomes possessed by two dragons which spring from his shoulderblades... and that's only the beginning! ^o^
It's hours and hours of good clean fun (disregarding the ecchi commentary from the person playing and the person watching), and it's only too bad we didn't do more fiction for it!! Our sons wrote some, and it's posted on the fanfiction page. ^_^ Maybe someday in a fit of discontent with all our other games one of us will pick it up again, and the other can write while she plays. ^_^ In the meantime, I have posted here those two fics and a lot of glorious images!
It may be worth noting that this page is mainly dedicated to the game, and the images drawn by the mangaka. We have the anime but haven't really watched much, and we enjoy looking at the raw manga without being able to read it. I have nothing against the anime or manga, but it's almost entirely the game that motivated this page. That and the beautiful, beautiful artwork by Mayumi Azuma!!
