Here you will [eventually] find links to a number of patches that will make your news software more anti-abuse saavy.

Here's a little gem - author calls it the NNRP Post Filter Patch, but I call it the Fool the Spammer Patch - it allows you to silently drop articles on the floor while making the spammer think that they have successfully posted an article to your newsserver - wasting their time and effort until (and unless) they catch on. Be prepared for them to be "right pissed" when they do eventually find out, though. It might take a while, because the average spam factory idiot will simply think that they have successfully posted but have had their articles canceled as usual (if they even bother to try to find their articles later).

Here's a little more flexible one that can accomplish the same thing and a little more - the NNRP Perl Filter Enhancement Patch. It's just a bit tougher to install, but it opens up some big possibilities for custom use.
