SARA & SABER
Bobcats

Sara was born at the Sanctuary. She was the runt of the litter and the only female. I was afraid she wouldn't survive, but she is a very healthy happy 'tiny' bobcat who is the ruler of her world.

Saber came to Wild Ones Sanctuary at four months of age and became Sarah's best friend. He was a well socialized friendly kitten whose purpose in life was to 'play hard' and 'run fast'. Unfortunately, this 'love of life' attitude was also Saber's downfall. The family who originally purchased him from a fur farm in Minnesota found him too much to deal with because he jumped up on their 12 year old daughter (a game they had taught him to play) and it scared her.

Saber has quite a sense of humor and enjoys a good practical joke on humans. His favorite game is "Ambush". He hides when people walk up to the cage and then 'rushes' at them to surprise them. If he succeeds in startling them, he wins, and he prances around his enclosure with a special spring in his step and a smile on his face. Saber is also quite proud of his beautiful belly. He flops onto his back and shows it to visitors on request.
Saber and Sara were the first cats to participate in educational programs, and were regular visitors at the Mt. Hood Community College senior citizens wildlife drawing class. Saber has been immortalized in colored pencil by the entire class and he taught them many things about 'bobcat ways'.
