| It all started when...... |
A pair of African Servals needed a home due to the divorce of their owners.
| The population grew rapidly with the addition of five cats from a farm in Mississippi, |
| because their owner had been killed in a car accident, and they no longer had anyone to care for them. |
the next residents were, a bobcat who committed the indiscretion of jumping on people in play,
and a serval who
no longer 'fit in'
with his family
when they decided
to have children. |
| Then there was a joint purchase to rescue seven adult Canadian lynx from a fur farm in Northern Canada, |
| and two baby lynx from a fur farm in Minnesota. |
| An old male bobcat no longer of any use as a breeder, |
| and a baby bobcat with a broken back, who was given little or no chance of recovery, joined the family. |
Currently, the facility houses and cares for fourteen cats. There are seven Bobcats, four Siberian Lynx, and three Canadian Lynx. Many have been rescued from abusive situations, starvation, or death at the hands of fur farmers.
Wild Ones Sanctuary, provides these animals with a safe, comfortable home, vet care, and plenty of food for the rest of their lives. Occasionally, placement into a good home is possible, but for most of these cats, Wild Ones Sanctuary, is the last stop because nobody else wants them, except for their pelts.
