El Hefe Timeline
November 13th, 2002: The Great Split. Governments collapse to give rise to new nations virtually overnight. The very concept
of nations changes and encompasses such things as virtual communities and corporate environments.
September 3rd, 2008: Massive mineral deposits are found in the Porto Yello region of Brazil. Three corporations lay competing
claims to the area.
Febuary 21st, 2011: Violence erupts between the three competing corporations when a rich new vein is discovered in the area
claimed by all three.
August 22nd, 2015: War between the three has depleted the area's population to under 3 million from a high of 15 million.
Nearly 3 million are dead with the remaining population fleeing to stable nations or to the new orbital nations.
November 30th, 2015: A peace is forced on the three corporations by outside powers. Damage to their profits prompted a threat
of armed intervention and the weakened corporations complied.
June 1st, 2019: Pursuant to the Treaty of November 30th, the nation of El Hefe is created with a total population of 5
million.
January 1st, 2023: In a stunning move socialist revolutionaries sieze power outlawing all private industry and establishing
a psuedo-communist state. The revolution is nearly bloodless thanks to some spectacular timing.
September 10th, 2025: The new government proves unstable and a new constitution is established. Private industry is still
outlawed, but the government moves towards a capitalist-socialist economy.
January 1st, 2028: The first president is elected in a direct election by the people. He faces a massive problem of illicit
drugs and addiction.
April 19th, 2031: Fueled by foriegn demand, a corrupt arms manufacturing industry, and a government crack down a full scale
anti-government drug war erupts. Government forces do battle on the streets of major cities with drug cartels.
June 25th, 2031: Military assistance from other nations and a massive government response forces the cartels to flee.
Illegal drugs will remain a huge problem in El Hefe likely for decades to come.

Judicial: 4 Years, 2 Term Limit
Election Method: Every 2 years the population elects 1/2 of the Senators and 1/2 of the local, regional, and supreme court
justices and the President if they have completed a full term. All the senate, judge, etc candidates are listed on their own
section of the ballot and the citizens get 5 'picks'. The votes are tallied, and the top 100 candidates (in the case of the
Senate) are elected. In the case of judges and the President the election goes to the top candidate.
Senators pick their branch of the Senate based on their ranking. They can pick from any position not currently occupied.
Senators can step aside and re-pick at their replacements position in the rankings. The top ranking picks generally
replace out-going Department Chair's.
